Metro Manila, Philippines – The public trust rating of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. fell to a record-low of 34%, while Vice President Sara Duterte’s held at 57%, according to a survey conducted ahead of Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA).
In June 2026, Marcos Jr.’s “much trust” rating of 34% fell by one percentage point compared to the 35% recorded in March 2026, based on results of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey commissioned by the Stratbase Consultancy made public on Sunday, July 19.
This represents a record low for Marcos and a continued decline in his trust rating since it peaked at 64% in the July 2024 edition of the SWS survey.
Of the 1,200 respondents, 45% had “little trust” in Marcos Jr., while another 19% were undecided.
In terms of overall net trust rating – taken by subtracting the much trust rating from the little trust rating – Marcos Jr. scored -11 points, which the SWS classifies as a “poor” trust rating. In March 2026, the President scored a -3 net trust rating, a decrease of eight points.
For Duterte, on the other hand, 27% of respondents said they had little trust in the Vice President, a 5% increase compared to March 2026 figures, while 15 percent were undecided.
This represents a net trust rating of 30% for Duterte in June 2026, which the SWS classifies as a “good” trust rating, just a month before the beginning of her impeachment trial. The previous March 2026 survey recorded a net trust rating of 35% for Duterte.
The Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President have yet to comment on the survey results.
