Marcos to welcome Polish president in historic first state visit

Metro Manila, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will welcome Polish President Karol Nawrocki for a state visit to the Philippines from Oct. 5 to 8, the first by a Polish head of state to the country.

The two leaders are expected to discuss expanding cooperation in defense and security, trade and investment, agriculture, science and technology, ICT, legal cooperation, tourism and people-to-people ties.

The visit follows growing defense engagement between Manila and Warsaw, including the first Philippines-Poland Defense Cooperation Committee meeting held in Warsaw in July. The two countries also held their seventh political consultations in Manila in September.

Regional and international developments of mutual concern are also expected to be discussed during the visit.

The Philippines and Poland established diplomatic relations in 1973. Poland was the Philippines’ 28th-largest trading partner in 2025 and is home to an estimated 25,000 Filipinos.

Poland also acceded to ASEAN’s Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Manila in July, alongside Lithuania, Romania and Sweden.

Nawrocki’s visit is expected to deepen bilateral relations and create more opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
