Metro Manila, Philippines – Pope Leo XIV’s recovery is progressing normally three days into his hospitalization, with doctors reporting that his operated lung is healing well following surgery.
In their latest medical update, Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said routine medical checks showed normal results.
“The chest X-ray showed good recovery of the lung that underwent surgery,” the doctors said.
The Vatican said the pontiff carried out his daily activities independently and completed a physiotherapy session with a full range of physical activities.
“Overall, his postoperative recovery is progressing normally,” the doctors added.
The update follows an earlier medical bulletin that said the pope had begun walking around his hospital room, resumed eating normally, and underwent respiratory physiotherapy.
The Vatican has yet to announce when the pontiff will be discharged from the hospital.
