
Metro Manila, Philippines – A dozen people are feared killed in Cebu due to Typhoon Tino (international name: Kalmaegi), a mayor said on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Citing information he received, Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival said the deaths were from two families; only the father survived.
The body of a 55-year-old man, meanwhile, was recovered in Barangay Pit-os. He was believed to be dragged by rushing waters.The death toll was higher than that of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council which stood at one.
Archival noted that it is the first time Bacayan, Cebu City encountered severe flooding in more than three decades.
He added that communication lines are down and the people are in need of food and water.
Meanwhile, the NDRRMC has not listed any injuries and missing persons.
Officials said the typhoon has affected close to 60,000 people in the Visayas and Mindanao.
