Duterte open to lie detector test, wants Gracioso results shown first

Metro Manila, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte said she is willing to undergo a lie detector test over allegations made by former police officer Rodulfo Gracioso Jr., but challenged authorities to first publicly show proof of the test he reportedly passed.

“Wala akong problema sa lie detector test. Pero ipakita muna nila yung public na lie detector test ni Gracioso,” Duterte said during a press conference in Davao City.

Duterte was responding to Gracioso’s challenge for both of them to undergo polygraph examinations.

A reporter cited National Bureau of Investigation Director Melvin Matibag as saying Gracioso’s polygraph results showed a high likelihood that he was telling the truth.

Duterte questioned the reported result and called for the release of the video of Gracioso’s examination.

“Ang gusto nating makita ay yung video ng lie detector test ni Gracioso at kung paano pumasa siya sa lie detector test,” Duterte said.

Duterte said the focus should instead be on the allegations contained in Gracioso’s affidavit, which she sought to dispute using photographs, schedules and other records during the press conference.

She said her own affidavit responding to Gracioso would be submitted to the NBI.

Duterte has repeatedly denied Gracioso’s allegations linking her to alleged deliveries of cash and other items.
