Metro Manila, Philippines – Minimum wage workers in Metro Manila will receive a ₱60 daily wage increase beginnig Saturday, Sept. 26.
This brings the minimum wage for non-agricultural workers from ₱695 to ₱755 per day.
Meanwhile, workers in agriculture, small retail and service establishments with 15 or fewer workers, and small manufacturing establishments with fewer than 10 workers will see their daily minimum wage increase from ₱658 to ₱718.
Classified as an immediate relief, the wage hike is expected to benefit around 1.1 million workers.
The regional wage board issued Wage Order 28 after the previous order faced legal challenges. Wage Order 27 set an ₱85 total increase divided into two tranches – ₱60 on July 24 and ₱25 on Jan. 20, 2027 – but the Pasig Regional Trial Court issued an injunction on a petition by construction companies.
The Department of Labor and Employment said employers are required to comply with the new minimum wage rates and ensure that their payroll and compensation systems reflect the prescribed increases.
The agency added it will continue to monitor compliance and provide guidance to workers and employers on the implementation of the wage order.
It said the new rates were set through the tripartite wage-setting process of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-NCR and confirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission.
