Washington, United States — US President Donald Trump said he is forming an “AI Force” and will soon name an “AI czar” as his administration seeks to accelerate the growth of artificial intelligence in the United States.

Trump announced the plan Saturday in a post on Truth Social but did not explain how the proposed AI Force would operate or what powers the AI czar would hold.

“We will not in any way hinder or stifle the growth of this incredible industry. Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it as it grows,” Trump said.

The US president said possible crimes involving AI could be addressed through the country’s existing criminal and civil justice systems.

Trump described AI as the next Industrial Revolution or internet and claimed the industry could eventually account for as much as 25 percent of the US gross domestic product.

His announcement comes as the rapid development of AI fuels debate over its effects on employment, misinformation, privacy and public safety.
