Metro Manila, Philippines – The state weather bureau has downgraded “Maymay” from a tropical storm into a tropical depression on Thursday, Aug. 6.
Signal No. 1 remains in the following areas:
+the southern portion of Babuyan Islands
+Ilocos Norte
+Ilocos Sur
+La Union
+the northwestern portion of Pangasinan
+Apayao
+Abra
+Kalinga
+Mountain Province
+Ifugao
+Benguet
+Cagayan, including the Babuyan islands
+Isabela
+Quirino
+Nueva Vizcaya
+the northern and central portions of Aurora
The weather bureau advised the public to expect strong rain over large portions of Luzon from the combined effects of the cyclone and the southwest monsoon.
It said it last spotted the cyclone in Tanudan, Kalinga and may be out of landmass by Thursday evening before further weakening into a low pressure area.
The Metro Manila Development Authority suspended the expanded number coding scheme on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a typhoon with the international name “Dolphin” remains outside the northeastern boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
