Metro Manila, Philippines – Tacloban City in Leyte may experience its highest heat index this May, with temperatures forecast to reach 45°C on Wednesday, according to the state weather bureau’s latest five-day outlook.
Tacloban City, along with six other areas across the Philippines, has been placed under the “danger” heat index category, where values range from 42°C to 45°C.
The seven areas under the “danger” category are:
- Tacloban City, Leyte – 45°C
- Cuyo, Palawan – 43°C
- La Granja, La Carlota, Negros Occidental – 43°C
- Bacnotan, La Union – 42°C
- Aparri, Cagayan – 42°C
- Virac, Catanduanes – 42°C
- Iloilo City, Iloilo – 42°C
Forecasts also show that Tanay, Rizal is expected to record the lowest heat index in the country today at 31°C.
Meanwhile, the National Capital Region remains under “extreme caution,” with heat index values ranging from 39°C to 41°C. This data is based on readings from two PAGASA stations: the Science Garden in Quezon City and NAIA in Pasay City.
