Seven Filipinos injured in Saudi Arabia attacks, three in critical condition

Metro Manila, Philippines – Seven Filipino workers were injured in attacks across a number of areas in Saudi Arabia, including three in critical condition, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Monday, Oct. 19.

The DFA said the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) was coordinating with Saudi authorities to make sure that the injured receive medical attention and assistance.

“The Department of Migrant Workers reports that seven Filipino workers were wounded, three of whom are in critical condition,” the DFA said in a statement.

The government has not disclosed the identities of the injured, their exact locations, or the circumstances of the attacks.

The DFA also extended its condolences to the families of those killed in the attacks and expressed hope for the recovery of the injured.

“The Philippine Government extends its deepest condolences to the families of those killed in the attacks in several areas of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured,” the statement read.

Officials are working with Saudi counterparts to provide assistance to Filipino workers.

The government also reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia in protecting civilians, including nearly one million Filipinos living and working in the kingdom.

Manila condemned the violence, warning that the attacks threatened stability in the region.

“These attacks are a grave threat to regional peace and stability,” the DFA said.

“The Philippine Government calls on all parties to cease hostilities and to pursue a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.”

Filipinos in Saudi Arabia were advised to follow instructions from local authorities and maintain communication with the Philippine Embassy and Consulate General.
