Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 7) – Nine Imus police personnel were relieved from their posts while under investigation after a video went viral on social media showing them ransacking the house of a retired professor suspected of involvement in illegal drugs, the Cavite Police Provincial Office reported Monday.
The unidentified police personnel in the CCTV footage could be seen taking out motorcycle tires and other things out of the residence.
“To our chiefs of police, let us religiously remind our personnel to refrain from engaging in any illegal activities of whatever forms and we do not tolerate any of these under any circumstances,” Cavite Police Office Provincial Director PCol Christopher Olazo said.
“If warranted, we will file administrative charges against erring Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel who are found guilty of any unlawful acts up to the extent of dismissing them outrightly from the PNP service,” he added.
Last Wednesday, Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) operatives of Imus conducted an anti-illegal drug operation at around 8:10 p.m. in Barangay Alapan 1-A that resulted in the arrest of one street value individual and her accomplice.
Authorities were said to have recovered six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing around 20 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of ₱136,000.00, one black pouch, and a ₱500 peso bill used as buy-bust money.
The retired professor was arrested and currently detained at the Imus Police Station for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
