200 former MILF, MNLF members pass initial police recruitment process

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 7) – At least 200 former members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) passed their neurological, physical, and medical examinations as part of the police recruitment process, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Monday.

The PNP said the former Moro fighters were among the 1,000 passers of the special eligibility examinations which are part of the integration process following the signing of a peace agreement under the previous administration.

“Halos tapos na yung processing, yung mga agility test, physical and medical examination pati na neuro,” PNP spokesperson Jean Fajardo said. “Yung initially na 1,000 mahigit na isinalang dito sa processes, sa ngayon nasa around 200 na lamang ang nakalusot doon sa tinatawag nating clean list.\”

The PNP clarified that the former MILF and MNLF members would still be subjected to background investigation before they could undergo the final phase of the recruitment process.

The PNP earlier allocated 400 slots for the MILF and MNLF recruits who will eventually be assigned to the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR).
