Metro Manila, Philippines – Filipino gymnast Karl Eldrew Yulo made a strong senior-level debut as he won the gold medal in the floor exercise of the 2026 FIG Apparatus World Cup in Antalya, Turkey.
Yulo topped the competition with a score of 14.100 during the final on Saturday evening, March 14 (PH time).
Last week, he only finished sixth during the Baku leg. But this time in Antalya, the 18-year-old athlete edged out more experienced gymnasts in his senior World Cup series debut.
Ireland’s Eamon Montgomery clinched silver, while Spain’s Rayderley Zapata, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist, bagged bronze.
Yulo failed to qualify for the finals in the vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.
His older brother, the two-time Olympic champion Carlos Yulo, was unable to join the Antalya World Cup due to the ongoing Middle East conflict.
The Antalya gold builds on his bronze finishes in the floor exercise and horizontal bar at the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships in Manila last November.
