Metro Manila, Philippines – Even without Shevana Laput, the De La Salle University Lady Spikers were unstoppable with a 25-12, 25-15, 25-19 win over the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Angel Canino led the Lady Spikers with 12 points while Amie Provido and Shane Reterta each had 11 points.
La Salle, which missed the towering Laput who was reportedly feeling under the weather, wasted no time in asserting its dominance with a 12-1 start in the opening set en route to the triumph.
The Lady Spikers have yet to drop a set this season and improved to 3-0 in the team standings.
The Fighting Maroons, meanwhile, absorbed their first defeat in three outings.
La Salle will aim for its fourth straight victory against the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles on March 1 at the Big Dome, while UP hopes to bounce back versus the reigning champions National University Lady Bulldogs on Feb. 28 at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion in Manila.
