Metro Manila, Philippines – Alex Eala took down Himeno Sakatsume of Japan in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0, to secure a quarterfinals berth in the Philippine Women’s Open on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Manila.
It was a back and forth affair early in the contest set until the 20-year-old Eala found her groove to pull away and secure the first set.
After a shaky start, Eala went unstoppable in the second with a shutout to seal the win.
Eala will face Camila Osorio of Colombia in the quarterfinals on Thursday, Jan. 29, at the same venue.
