Metro Manila, Philippines – The Final Four door is still wide open for the Adamson University Soaring Falcons after surviving the De La Salle University Green Archers, 61-60, on Wednesday, Nov. 19, in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Matt Erolon had 18 points and five assists, while Cedrick Manzano added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Soaring Falcons.
Down by six points with less than two minutes in the fourth quarter, the Green Archers went on a mini run to make it a one possession game but time was not on their side as Adamson held on to notch its sixth victory this season.
Matt Montebon chipped in 10 points and three assists for the Soaring Falcons.
Vhoris Marasigan tallied 15 points and four rebounds, while EJ Gollena finished with 10 points for the skidding La Salle, which suffered its third straight defeat to drop to 6-6 for fourth place in the standings.
Adamson remained outside the playoff picture as of the moment but this victory gave the San Marcelino-based squad a chance to gatecrash the Final Four party.
The Soaring Falcons will conclude their elimination round campaign against the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles on Nov. 23 at the same venue.
Meanwhile, the Green Archers hope to end their skid versus the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons on Nov. 22 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
