Metro Manila, Philippines – Carlos Yulo won the Philippines’ first gold medal at the 20th Asian Games after ruling the men’s floor exercise final on Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Nagoya General Gymnasium in Japan.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist tallied a score of 14.666, beating seven other competitors including his brother Karl Eldrew, who finished at seventh place with a score of 12.233.
Yulo struck gold in the same event where he captured his first Olympic gold in Paris back in 2024.
Milad Karimi of Kazakhstan snagged the silver with 14.600, while hometown bet Shoma Tsukiyama settled for bronze with 14.566.
Yulo can still add two more gold in the men’s final of the vault, where he is also the Olympic champion, and the parallel bars, both set for Sept. 25.
The Philippines now has six medals in the quadrennial showpiece.
