Metro Manila, Philippines – Malacañang has directed government offices in 18 areas to adopt alternative work arrangements on Thursday, August 20, as the southwest monsoon or habagat continues to drench parts of Luzon.
The directive, issued under Memorandum Circular 131, covers the following:
+ National Capital Region
+ Abra
+ Benguet
+ Ilocos Norte
+ Ilocos Sur
+ La Union
+ Pangasinan
+ Bataan
+ Bulacan
+ Nueva Ecija
+ Pampanga
+ Tarlac
+ Zambales
+ Batangas
+ Cavite
+ Laguna
+ Rizal
+ Occidental Mindoro
The circular also directed public and private schools to implement alternative learning modes and other learning continuity measures at all levels, unless otherwise directed by their respective local chief executives.
Government agencies responsible for basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services will continue their operations.
Contract of service and job order workers under alternative work arrangements will still receive their corresponding wages or salaries, subject to applicable rules and regulations.
For the private sector, suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements will remain at the discretion of management.
