Metro Manila, Philippines – A new film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility is set to open in Philippine cinemas on Oct. 28, distributor Universal Pictures Philippines announced on Friday, June 26.
The film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood and Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne Dashwood, the sisters at the center of Jane Austen’s classic novel about family, romance and social expectations.
Directed by Georgia Oakley from a screenplay by Diana Reid, the film also stars Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, George MacKay and Fiona Shaw.
Produced by Working Title Films and Focus Features, the movie offers a new adaptation of Austen’s first published novel, which follows the Dashwood sisters as they navigate love, loss and financial uncertainty in 19th-century England.
Universal Pictures Philippines also released the film’s official trailer ahead of its local theatrical release.
