Palace warns vs. June 12 destabilization rumors, cites ‘forces of darkness’

Metro Manila, Philippines – Malacañang said it has yet to confirm reports of an alleged destabilization plot on Independence Day, June 12, but warned the public against groups supposedly seeking to seize power ahead of the 2028 elections.

Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said authorities are verifying information on the alleged plot.

Castro suggested that certain groups have long sought to install their preferred leader in power ahead of the next presidential election.

The Palace official said law enforcement agencies and investigative bodies are responsible for looking into any potential threats to public order and constitutional processes.

Castro also cautioned the public against what she described as the “forces of darkness.”

“Mag-ingat po tayong lahat sa mga kampon ng kadiliman,” she said.

Social media and political circles have been abuzz about a possible destabilization effort targeting the administration ahead of Independence Day celebrations.
