Metro Manila, Philippines – A major fuel price rollback will take effect beginning Tuesday, June 2, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced on Monday.
Kerosene prices will go down by ₱10.86 per liter, diesel will cost ₱9.26 less, while gasoline will be cheaper by ₱4.76 per liter.
“We’re going closer to the pre-war prices,” Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said in a press conference, referring to the Middle East conflict.
In late February, the United States and Israel launched a series of attacks on Iran, triggering a spike in fuel prices caused by supply restrictions. Tensions have eased out of a shaky ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key delivery route where 20 percent of the world’s supply passes.
Meanwhile, the DOE said liquid petroleum gas will be higher by ₱3.41 per kilogram.
These are the prices of fuel in Metro Manila as of June 1:
RON 97/100 – ₱89.50
RON 95 – ₱82.90
RON 91 – ₱79.60
Diesel – ₱82.70
Diesel Plus – ₱91.80
Kerosene – ₱113.80
