Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 12) — Authorities on Tuesday confirmed the arrest weeks ago of one of the alleged gunmen in the Nov. 15 fatal shooting of a couple inside a bus in Nueva Ecija.
The Central Luzon police office reported that authorities caught the suspect — identified as Allan delos Santos — on Nov. 20 and that he made an extrajudicial confession following his apprehension, with the assistance of his legal counsel.
He “gave crucial information” about his involvement in the double murder of a 60-year-old businesswoman and her 55-year-old partner, police said.
The victims were on board a Victory Liner bus bound for Manila when they were fatally shot. The crime was caught on security camera. One of the killers wore a face mask, while the other shooter’s face can be clearly seen.
Police said Delos Santos is a known gun-for-hire operating in Nueva Ecija and Isabela. He also has warrants of arrest for statutory rape and sexual assault.
Authorities said a criminal complaint for two counts of murder was filed against Delos Santos and four others on Monday before the Prosecutor’s Office in Nueva Ecija. The other suspects remain at large.
