Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 26) — Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairperson George Garcia has assured the public that the disqualification cases filed against candidates in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) underwent verification.
Speaking to CNN Philippines’ Newsroom Ngayon on Thursday, Garcia said that while around 7,200 show cause orders related to premature campaigning were issued to candidates, hundreds of complaints were dismissed as the Comelec found those without basis.
The poll body earlier said at least 1,300 show cause orders were related to illegal campaigning.

Garcia also said the quick proceedings will prove that the Comelec is doing its job, and would set a standard for national or local poll candidates to follow election rules.
\"Wag mag-alala at kami ay may paraan to countercheck whether ito'y pamumulitika or sadyang tunay na report coming from our voters and constituents,\" he added.
