Transport authorities issue air travel tips for BSKE, Undas

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 21) — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) issued some tips for air travelers a week before the expected influx of passengers at the country’s air hubs.

This is part of \”OPLAN Biyaheng Ayos: SK Elections & Undas 2023\” of the DOTr that is implemented by the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) to help air passengers have a smooth travel experience.

Place sharp objects in checked baggage

Objects with sharp points or edges must be placed in checked baggage and properly sheathed to prevent injury to baggage handlers.

LAGS should be in resealable plastic bags

Liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGS) in carry-on baggage must be in containers with a capacity not greater than 100 ml, and placed inside a resealable plastic bag not exceeding 1 liter (1L).

Certain persons may be exempted from the restrictions, like passengers with medical and/or special dietary requirements. Medicines, milk, juices for passengers with special needs may be brought in containers with a maximum volume of 100 ml placed in a 1 liter bag.

Exemptions may be allowed for LAGs exceeding 100 ml, but passengers are required to show written proof.

Use STEBS for duty-free items

Put duty-free items in security tamper-evident bags (STEBS) so that these may be allowed to pass through transit checkpoints at airports.

Secure valuable items

Place all valuable items inside your bag to prevent leaving items at security screening checkpoints.

Remove all metallic and non-metallic items from your body before going through the Walk Thru Metal Detector (WTMD) or Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT). Put divested valuable items must be placed in your bag to prevent leaving items at the Security Screening Checkpoints

Do not bring lighters

All kinds of lighters are prohibited in both carry on and checked baggage.
