Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 6) — Luka Doncic’s first game in Manila was magical at first as thousands of Filipino fans screamed their lungs out every time he touched the ball.
But it was spoiled by the calls made by the referees, which the NBA superstar thought were unfair to him.
\”The referees told one of the guys we’re not going to call a foul because he’s coming at us. I think this is not fair,\” he told reporters after Slovenia fell to Canada 100-89 on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Hounded by fellow NBA player Dillon Brooks throughout their duel on the court, Doncic raised the physicality employed on him.
\”I know I complain a lot but I don’t think this is fair. They’ve been playing physical with me and if you say that, it’s not fair,\” he said.
Doncic was ejected from the match at the 6:37 mark of the final quarter after committing his second technical foul due for complaining too much to the referees. He finished with 26 points, five assists, and four rebounds.
