No ticket, no problem. Hold your own Coldplay concert at home

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 4) — After years of waiting, fans are getting a chance to watch British rock band Coldplay, which is finally making its way to the Philippines tomorrow.

But for every Coldplay fan counting down to the concert of a lifetime, there are a hundred others mourning missing out on the show.

For those who won’t be jamming with the award-winning band on Tuesday, everything’s not lost.

You may not be making your way to the Mall Of Asia (MOA) Concert Grounds, but you can attempt to hold your own “Coldplay concert” from the comforts of your home.

1. Music

A typical Coldplay concert features a mix of its old and new hits. From its breakthrough single, Yellow, to recent songs from its A Head Full of Dreams album, Coldplay’s concert set list covers the highlights of its 20-year history.

A Head Full of Dreams concert shows are said to have 21 songs, starting with its namesake track and ending in the dreamy Up & Up.

For those looking to replicate the Coldplay experience, music site Setlist.fm has posted a list of Coldplay songs played in previous shows in the A Head Full of Dreams tour.

CNN Philippines took the liberty of replicating the playlist on Spotify for you.

2. Snacks

Did you know that Chris Martin’s favorite dish is chicken and dumplings?

This is according to his former wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who once prepared the dish on a television cooking show in 2012.

While we’re not saying you should prepare the same meal, having snacks on hand is always a good idea in case hunger strikes.

Ready some chips and dips to munch on, or order a whole pizza for yourself. There’s nothing that food can’t make better — you even get a pass from the sky-high food prices at concert venues.

3. Glowsticks

Coldplay concerts are known for using Xylobands — radio frequency-activated LED wristbands that light up to the beat of each song.

The bands have become such a Coldplay trademark that reports say they spent as much as £4.22 million — approximately ₱265 million based on current exchange rates — on them in their 2011 Mylo Xyloto tour.

With the lights out, the multicolored LEDs fill the stadium like a sky full of stars.

Glowsticks are a poor man’s alternative to the Xylobands, but snap them around your wrist, and they’ll give off almost the same vibe.

Dim the lights, turn up the music, wave your hands in the air — it will be just like magic.

4. Friends

Shared joy is double joy; shared sorrow is half a sorrow. Call up your friends and invite them to your home so you and your fellow Coldplay fans can bond.

While you’re at it, you can belt out to all your favorite tunes, with extra “hugot” to match.

A tip: Don’t be too bitter when you and your friends see photos of the concert flooding your Snapchat and Facebook feed.

5. Feels

It’s not a Coldplay song if it doesn’t draw out feelings. You might not be at the MOA Concert Grounds, but that doesn’t mean you can’t emote as Chris Martin croons to Coldplay classics. From the moment Yellow played at your high school prom, to old memories of playing “Fix You” on loop during your first heartbreak, it’s the perfect time to let it all out.

Just try not to think about how you’re not at the Coldplay concert or you might just break into to tears.
