
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Sens. Grace Poe and Francis “Chiz” Escudero have formally filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) on Thursday afternoon (October 15).

Poe is running for president with Escudero as her vice president.
The crowd at the main office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) became so ecstatic on their arrival that the police had to escort them towards the podium area.

Earlier, the senator and current front-runner in pre-election surveys said that her COC would outline her program of government founded on the principle of “walang maiiwan,” which she tackled when she made her proclamation last month.
Poe said that she was asking the public for prayers as the task of presidency also requires a brave and honest heart.
“Ako’y humihingi ng dasal. Hindi kaya ito ng iisang tao lamang. Hindi lamang sa karanasan o sa talino kung hindi sa tapang ng puso at tapat na pusong manilbihan para sa lahat.”
“Ang dasal ko sa bayan at Panginoon, anuman ang ating gagawin para ito sa kabutihan ng mas nakararami. Para naman mapadama na sa wakas ang tunay na pag-aaruga at proteksyon ng gobyerno.”

Addressing the media, Escudero said that their aim is to have a government with a heart.
“Layunin namin magtayo ng pamahalaan na may puso, nakakaramdam, at may pakiramdam. Na may puso para sa Pilipinas.”
Poe said she would announce her complete senatorial lineup next week. She said that she could not reveal the names yet as two of the senatorial bets would still have to file their COCs on Friday (October 16).
