Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Philippine Coast Guard in Cebu launched on Thursday night (July 2) a search-and-rescue operation shortly after getting a report at 10:00 p.m. that a fishing boat with seven fishermen aboard had gone missing.
The boat reportedly came from Negros Oriental and was headed for the Bantayan Island area, off the northern tip of Cebu Island, Cmdr. Weniel Azcuna, chief of the Coast Guard District Central Visayas, told CNN Philippines on Friday.
The Coast Guard has asked crews on bigger boats in the area to be on the lookout for the missing vessel.
