
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Rain or Shine Elasto Painters got a measure of revenge on the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, 88-73, on Saturday (June 6) in their first match since slugging it out in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup finals.
More importantly, the Elasto Painters improved to a 3-4 win-loss record to share the seventh place in the Governors’ Cup with the Tropang Texters and the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
Import Wendell McKines scattered 28 points for the Elasto Painters, who bucked a sluggish start and turned a catch-up game into a breakaway in the fourth period.
Rain or Shine was trailing 15-30 in the opening quarter before gaining steam in the second half behind McKines.
The beefy import drew some help from locals Jeff Chan and Raymond Almazan, who chipped in 10 apiece.
Talk ‘N Text was led by import Steffphon Pettigrew, who scored 17 points.
Jayson Castro and Ranidel de Ocampo added 16 and 13 markers, respectively.
