
(CNN Philippines) — Jayson Castro finally saw action to give Talk ‘N Text more firepower as the Tropang Texters handled the NLEX Road Warriors, 108-89, in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors’ Cup on Tuesday (May 26) at Cuneta Astrodome.
Last conference’s Best Player scored 19 points, including four three-pointers, to help Talk ‘N Text improve to 3-1, tied with Alaska and KIA in second place. He came off the pine and also added five rebounds and five assists in 28 minutes of play.
Texters import Steffphon topscored with 26 markers, while Ranidel de Ocampo and Kelly Williams had 12 and 11 points, respectively.
“The roster is complete. What’s hard now is to divide the minutes. Hopefully, we get the right combinations,” said Talk ‘N Text coach Jong Uichico.
Asi Taulava, Kwame Alexander and Michael Madanly combined for 69 points but it still wasn’t enough as NLEX slid to 1-4 in the league standings.
In the fourth period, the Road Warriors were only down by seven, 91-84, before Talk ‘N Text, whose bench dominated NLEX’s 58-7, went on a 13-2 run late to widen the gap to 104-86, 1:33 left in the game.
