(CNN Philippines) — As word of the passing of John Nash and his wife Alicia spread, members of the production of A Beautiful Mind showed their respect and condolences via Twitter.
Film producer Brian Grazer expressed his admiration for the impact Nash has had, while Academy Award winning director Ron Howard tweeted he was privileged to showcase their lives.
Russell Crowe, the actor who played Nash in the film A Beautiful Mind, was in disbelief of the couple’s tragic death.

John and Alicia Nash passed away in an automobile accident on the New Jersey Turnpike on their way to their residence on May 24 PHT.
The Nobel Award winning mathematician and his wife had just returned to the United States via Newark Airport after receiving the Abel Prize in Norway.
The taxi driver who picked them up from the airport lost control of his vehicle when he tried to overtake another motorist, striking a guard rail which resulted in the couple being thrown out of the car.

In 2001, Grazer and Howard made A Beautiful Mind, a biographical film focused on John Nash and his struggles with paranoid schizophrenia starring Crowe.
