Holyfield ‘excited’ about Mayweather-Pacquiao

Evander Holyfield is one of the people looking forward to the Mayweather-Pacquiao showdown.

(CNN Philippines) — Not only are boxing fans looking forward to the showdown of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao on May 2 (May 3 PHT), but past boxers as well.

One of them is Evander Holyfield.

In an interview with CNN’s Don Riddell, the former boxing heavyweight champion said he is thrilled that the much-awaited fight will finally come to fruition.

“I’m very excited about it. I’m so happy that it’s happening,” said Holyfield.

“You know people don’t understand the art of the boxing game that it’s not what you think, it’s what these individuals do that day.”

Asked on who he thinks will emerge victorious, Holyfield seemed clueless.

“Floyd got to be one of the most gifted fighters out there and Pacquiao is the guy that throws a lot of punches all the time,” said Holyfield.

“Who wins the shootout? Nobody knows. That’s why I’m going to the fight, to see whose hand will get raised.”

Holyfield, aware that Mayweather-Pacquiao will possibly go down as one of the biggest fight in the sport’s history, also believes the fight will be fair and square.

“I think it would be. It’s the fighters that make it clean.”
