More officials on the way out amid performance review

Metro Manila, Philippines - Malacañang has released a new list of officials whose courtesy resignations were accepted in line with the performance review of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed on Thursday, June 19, that Marcos accepted the courtesy resignations of the following:

- Presidential Adviser on Legislative Affairs Mark Llandro Mendoza, who heads the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office

- Presidential Adviser on Military and Police Affairs Roman Felix, and

- PNOC Renewables Corp. President and CEO John Arenas.

Castro did not provide details on why Marcos accepted their courtesy resignation.

Meanwhile, the following officials have been retained:

- Government Service Insurance System President and general manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso

- Land Bank of the Philippines President and CEO Lynette Ortiz

- Development Bank of the Philippines President and CEO Michael de Jesus

- National Irrigation Administration head Eduardo Guillen

- Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office general manager Melquiades Robles

- Philippine Health Insurance Inc. acting president and CEO Edwin Mercado.

Marcos ordered the courtesy resignation of all Cabinet officials in a May 21 memorandum, but publicly announced May 22, after the results of the midterm elections. Days later, the president also called for the courtesy resignations of executives of Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations.
