Russian attack on Kyiv kills 2, injures 10

Russia attacks Kyiv on Sept.8.

Kyiv, Ukraine – At least two people were killed and 10 others injured in a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv on Tuesday, Ukrainian News Agency Ukrinform reported, citing the interior ministry.

Five of the injured were taken to hospitals, including two in serious condition, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The attack caused damage and fires across a number of districts in the Ukrainian capital.

In Holosiivskyi district, debris fell in several locations, setting fire to warehouses and an area inside a private school. A residential building was also hit by debris, leaving people trapped inside apartments, while an unfinished 26-story building was struck.

Fire was also reported in warehouses in the Darnytskyi and Podilskyi districts. In Solomianskyi, debris sparked fires in a non-residential building and two residential buildings.

Emergency and municipal crews were deployed to affected areas as authorities continued assessing the extent of the damage.

The latest attack came as diplomatic efforts continue to seek an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
