Washington, United States – US President Donald Trump shared a map on social media depicting Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Greenland, and other territories as part of an expanded United States.
The image, described as apparently AI-generated, shows the American flag extending beyond current US borders and covering several neighboring countries and territories across North America and the Caribbean.
Trump posted the map on his Truth Social account without an accompanying explanation, according to Chinese state-owned media Xinhua.
The post is the latest in a series of provocative images and messages from the US president involving US territory.
A day earlier, Trump shared another image declaring “THE MOON IS OURS” alongside a US flag. He also referred to the US state of New Mexico as “New America” in a separate post.
The posts follow moves by the US leader to rename geographic landmarks during his second term.
Last month, Trump ordered the US Department of the Interior to use “Lake America” for Lake Ontario amid tariff tensions with Canada. The designation does not change Canada’s name for the lake or carry international recognition.
Trump had earlier ordered the US government in January 2025 to use “Gulf of America” in place of the Gulf of Mexico.
