Nepal flood death toll reaches 1,114, nearly 4,000 still missing

Metro Manila, Philippines – The number of fatalities from the catastrophic floods in Nepal has risen to 1,114, while 3,916 others are missing, said Nepal authorities as of 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2. 

Nepal’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority posted on social media that 292 were injured, while 11,993 others have been rescued.

More than 21,000 security personnel have been deployed for search, rescue, and relief efforts, as authorities continue to recover bodies and locate those still unaccounted for. 

The flood, which struck Nepal’s Rasuwan district on Aug. 26, caused widespread destruction across several districts and infrastructure damage.
