Metro Manila, Philippines – Twelve were killed, eight are missing, and 11 others injured from the combined effects of tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay, and the southwest monsoon, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Assistant Secretary Laurence Mina said.
As of 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, the victims were in Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon (Calabarzon) region. Authorities are validating the numbers.
Four were killed in a landslide in Guisad Surong, Baguio City on Sunday, Aug. 9, including three young students. Six of the victims are still missing.

In Antipolo City, a delivery rider was killed by a felled tree and electrical post while taking shelter from the heavy rain.
Mina said 384,520 families or 1,310,000 people were affected by the heavy rains.
Workers served around 16,130 families or 58,650 people inside 624 evacuation centers across Luzon.
Damaged homes totaled 367, including 27 totally damaged.
Nathaniel Servando, administrator of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said rains may begin subsiding by Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Meanwhile, water elevation at the La Mesa Dam in Quezon City reached 80.10 meters as of 1:10 p.m. on Monday, breaching the critical 79.50 m, and nearing spilling point of 80.15 m. Water overflow will spill into the Tullahan River.
PAGASA warned residents in low areas along the river to be on alert and evacuate ahead of a possible flooding.
