Metro Manila, Philippines – Frank Lao is the new president of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) in an election held in Parañaque City on Monday, Aug. 10.
Lao, founder of Strong Group Athletics, was previously elected president in June, but the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) declared the election invalid since the federation then was suspended by the international governing body FIVB.
Also elected were Donn Kapunan as vice president, Rommel Ng as treasurer, POC secretary-general Wharton Chan as auditor, and board of trustee members Mohamad Bernan Jr., Jonas Cabochan, Rustico Camangian, Carmela Gamboa, Sienna Olaso, and Francis Chad Salimbangon.
Asian Volleyball Confederation president Ramon “Tats” Suzara, the PNVF president before Lao, was also elected to the board while Don Caringal was appointed secretary-general.
Three more members of the 13-person board, one male and one female representative from the athletes commission, plus a POC-appointed representative will be announced soon.
