VP Binay to deliver ‘true state of the nation address’ in Cavite

Vice President Jojo Binay is expected to deliver his 'true state of the nation address' exactly one week after President Aquino's own State of the Nation Address.

Cavite (CNN Philippines) — Vice President Jejomar Binay is set to deliver what he calls his ‘True State of the Nation Address’ Monday, August 3, at the Cavite State University in Indang, Cavite.

What can we expect from Binay’s speech?

In an earlier interview, United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) spokesman Mon Ilagan said Binay would deliver a “statesman-like, true State of the Nation Address.”

The vice president is expected to answer the SONA of President Benigno Aquino III, including the potshots made against him.

Ilagan said Binay would discuss the issues President Aquino missed in his SONA.

He will also discuss whether the country’s economic gains, which Aquino mentioned in his SONA, are being felt by the people.

Lastly, he will discuss the solutions and his policy directions to address the problems of our country.

Why deliver it in Cavite?

Cavite is a vote-rich province with more than two million registered voters.

On Thursday last week, Binay’s UNA formally allied with Partido Magdalo, the local party of Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla.

During the event attended by hundreds of party members, Remulla promised Binay that he would get the support of Cavite in the 2016 presidential elections.

Binay also made rounds around the province on Thursday and Friday last week where he was warmly welcomed by thousands of Cavitenos.
