NBA Free Agency: Lakers nab Lou Williams; Pistons keep Jackson

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Los Angeles Lakers may be having a lackluster National Basketball Association (NBA) free agency, but they get some positive news after signing Lou Williams to a three-year, $21 million contract.

Williams notched the Sixth Man of the Year honors last season after averaging a career-high 15.5 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals for the Toronto Raptors.

The Lakers will be Williams’ fourth team in 10 seasons, after stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks, and the Toronto Raptors.

The signing of Williams coincides with the Lakers’ efforts to finalize their trade to acquire Roy Hibbert from the Indiana Pacers.

After losing Greg Monroe to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Pistons extended the contract of guard Reggie Jackson in a deal worth $80 million for five years.

Jackson first arrived to Detroit after a three-team trade which involved the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Utah Jazz at the trade dealdine.

After spending half the season with the Pistons, Jackson finished with averages of 14.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists.
