Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 26) — Former Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. has been formally charged for the March 4 killing of Gov. Roel Degamo and nine others, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Saturday.
DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano confirmed this in a news forum, saying the charges were filed before a Manila court on Aug. 18.
\”‘Yung Degamo case po nai-file na din sa Manila,\” Clavano said. \” ‘Yan po nasa korte na rin at hinihintay na lang natin ang warrant of arrest.\”

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla earlier said state prosecutors “are about to resolve” the charges of multiple murder, multiple frustrated murder, and multiple attempted murder against Teves.
Teves has repeatedly denied involvement in Degamo’s assassination and has been claiming that he could not return to the country due to threats to his life.
The Anti-Terrorism Council has designated the former lawmaker, his brother Pryde Henry Teves, and 11 others as terrorists. Their assets have been frozen.
