Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 3) — The Department of Justice (DOJ) has ordered an investigation on the brutal killing of a female architecture student in Occidental Mindoro.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Monday confirmed to reporters that he directed the National Bureau of Investigation to open a probe.Police said Eden Joy Villacete, 21, a graduating architecture student of Occidental Mindoro State College, was reported missing for a few days.They said Villacete may have been raped before she was murdered at her boarding house in San Jose town on Friday
On Sunday, San Jose Municipal Police denied rumors that the suspect in the rape-slay case is in police custody. It added that authorities are still gathering information on the crime.
