Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 9) — A low pressure area (LPA) is expected to enter the country’s weather monitoring area and intensify into a tropical cyclone within the week, the state weather bureau said Sunday.
In its afternoon forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was last located 1,255 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao.
“Ang low pressure area na ito ay maaaring pumasok sa ating Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at also, posibleng maging bagyo sa mga susunod na araw,”PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said. [Translation: This low pressure area may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility and possibly become a tropical cyclone in the next few days.] Once this happens, the low pressure area will be named “Amang.” Meanwhile, the LPA’s trough is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte. The northeasterly windflow may bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, and Cordillera Administrative Region.
