Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 10) — The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Monday said all terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) are ready to cater to the influx of arriving passengers as the Holy Week break ends.
“We are prepared for it the same way that we have prepared for the departing passengers over the past few days where I think we successfully were able to manage the possible influx of all the passengers using our NAIA system,” MIAA assistant general manager Bryan Co told CNN Philippines’ The Source.
MIAA said since it started monitoring on April 1, 1.051 million travelers had so far used the country’s main air hub. The number is expected to reach 1.2 million on Monday with more travelers arriving as the holiday period ends, Co said.
On Easter Sunday alone, 118,000 passengers passed through NAIA, of which 65,000 were arrivals and 53,000 were departures, he added.
For faster processing at the airport, airlines were reminded to inform passengers to fill out their e-travel forms ahead of departure from their country of origin, Co said. Airlines were also urged to provide enough manpower and sufficient equipment on the ground for faster release of luggages, he added.
Co said MIAA is also coordinating with other authorities to make sure that travelers who do not have their own vehicles will have modes of transportation to exit the airport premises and head to their final destination.
