Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 6) — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has lifted all wind signals and gale warnings as Typhoon Jenny (international name: Koinu) continues to weaken outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

\”The lifting of all wind signals indicates that severe winds from Jenny no longer affect the country,\” the state weather bureau said in its 5 a.m. bulletin.

However, weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said Jenny is still enhancing the southwest monsoon, or habagat, that will still bring occasional rains over a large portion of Luzon including Metro Manila.

\”Ngayong araw asahan pa rin ang mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at thunderstorms sa northern at central Luzon kasama na rin ang Metro Manila, Mimaropa, at Calabarzon,\” he said.

[Translation: Today, scattered rains and thunderstorms are still expected in northern and central Luzon including Metro Manila, Mimaropa, and Calabarzon.]

PAGASA also warned that the typhoon may still bring moderate to rough seas over the coastal waters of Batanes, the western portion of Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.

Jenny was last spotted 385 kilometers northwest of Itbayat, Batanes – packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.

PAGASA said it is monitoring another low pressure area that is expected to enter PAR this weekend.

It still has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours, weather forecaster Rhea Torres told CNN Philippines’ New Day.

She said weather conditions are also expected to improve during the weekend since the LPA will not yet affect the country until Wednesday or Thursday next week.
