Metro Manila, Philippines – The Bureau of Immigration arrested another Russian vlogger, this time for threatening to spread human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in the Philippines.
Authorities identified the foreign national as 21-year-old Nikita Chekhov.
The BI said Chekhov posted videos filmed in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, where he claimed that he will spread HIV while he’s in the country.
He arrived on January 15 using a tourist visa, coming from Shanghai, China.
Authorities said Chekhov has no known relatives in the country.
“These so-called rage-bait videos irresponsibly cause fear and panic among the public,” Viado said…Foreign nationals who come to the Philippines to spread alarm, disrespect our people, or abuse our hospitality are not welcome and will face deportation,” BI commissioner Joel Viado said in a press release.
Chekhov is detained in a BI facility.
The BI said they have coordinated Chekhov’s statement with the Department of Health.
His arrest came days after the government deported Russian vlogger Vitaly Zdorovetskiy for harassment-related offenses, also in Taguig.
