Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 10) — A male resident of Imus, Cavite tested positive for the coronavirus disease, or COVID-19, Governor Janvic Remulla said Tuesday.

Remulla said the man is a seafarer who passed through Narita Airport in Japan. He is currently confined at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa City.

It is not clear if he is one of the 33 positive cases the Department of Health reported.

Remulla said a woman confined in a private hospital in Imus is also under monitoring for possible infection.

President Rodrigo Duterte placed the country under a state of public health emergency on March 8, upon the recommendation of health officials after they confirmed a local transmission of the disease.
