Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 26) — The House of Representatives has approved a measure regulating the operation of motorcycles-for-hire on second reading
House Bill 10571 was passed through voice vote during the plenary session on Tuesday.
Should the bill becomes a law, motorcycles will be used to transport passengers and goods, including parcels and mail. These can be hired by customers through digital booking platforms or by going to designated terminals.
The Department of Transportation will provide the standards and specifications of motorcycles that will be used as public utility vehicles.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, meanwhile, will be in charge of granting franchises to operators of motorcycles-for-hire and prescribing fees for related services.
