Metro Manila, Philippines – The land transport regulator has subpoenaed the records of five online shopping platforms about their delivery service partners as part of the crackdown on illegal logistics services.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said it is going after owners of trucks and other private vehicles reportedly providing delivery services for e-commerce platforms without permits.
“We are in the initial phase of our aggressive operations against truck-for-hire or delivery service motor vehicles that are providing services illegally. By summoning the list of these five online shopping platforms, we will be able to identify those legitimate and colorum ones,” said LTFRB acting Chairman Greg Pua Jr.
The LTFRB said the shopping platforms have three working days from receipt of the subpoena to submit their complete and updated list of accredited truck-for-hire service providers, along with relevant documents identifying these service providers.
The crackdown stemmed from the agency’s investigation and validation of reports received on the prevalence of trucks, vans, and other private motor vehicle owners who are providing unauthorized transport, logistics, and delivery services to online commerce marketplaces and shopping platforms.
