₱45 wage increase in Calabarzon to take effect Oct. 26

Metro Manila, Philippines – The Calabarzon wage board has approved an increase in the minimum wage of up to ₱45.

Effective on Oct. 26, as affirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), the increase is equivalent to ₱1,170.

The NWPC said more than 1.56 million workers in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon are expected to benefit from the adjustment.

“The decision followed a thorough review and evaluation of the region’s existing socio-economic conditions, as mandated by Republic Act 6727, or the Wage Rationalization Act,” the Department of Labor and Employment said in a press statement.

The Labor Department also noted that it will closely monitor the wage adjustment implementation for compliance among establishments.
